And, one of my favorite sanctuaries to visit between my often-intense travel and teaching schedule is the Sacred Mt. Spa. When I step into its gentle and friendly peace, I can leave all the busyness of the world behind. I love to start with a healing soak of color and light in the private SanJet Tub for half an hour, followed by a nice shower. Then, I opt for one of a variety of heavenly massages from a choice of expert therapists. I’ve had Swedish, lymphatic, lomi-lomi, raindrop therapy, hot stones and many other massages from several different healers. Each one of them has succeeded in melting me away! The perfect ending, not that you’d want it to end, is steaming in their sauna for a few minutes before a refreshing final rinse. Ah-h! I have some experience with different kinds of body-mind-spirit work, but nothing compares to this. Usually my treatments involve a fair amount of deep tissue massage, and initially my body seemed to be expecting that. However, as soon as I decided to go with the flow, I started noticing the incredibly fluidity and elegance of the Lomi Lomi massage movements. After a while I realized that through this massage, my body was being shown a different way of being. Just like the Hawaiian Hula dance, the Lomi Lomi was telling my body a new story.
